Hey Folks - Discovered this one in the $1 bin at my local thrift store. The flick in the public domain and while it has been put out by several distributors in the past remains a relatively unheard of and unknown name. Also put out as "The Death Collector," this one is surprisingly good and has much to offer including an early Joe Pesci performance. Original NY Times review below, using my Pinewoods Rating System, I give Family Enforcer the max on a b-flick, Two & 3/4 Pinewoods....The Horror!!
"Death Collector," filmed entirely at the other end or the Lincoln Tunnel in New Jersey, is an effective little melodrama about a fast-talking young punk who aspires to get ahead in the local Mafia but hasn't the brains to operate successfully.
Seedy is the word for the world through which this punk moves, often with the towers of Manhattan in the distance and as far removed from him as the moon. Ralph De Vito, who wrote and directed the film, displays a good deal of talent for the kind of movie-making in which action (a lot of it very violent) is exposition and the portrait of a character's soul is the physical landscape that surrounds him. Joseph Cortese and Lou Criscuola are exceedingly good as, respectively, the punk and the local don who befriends him." - NY Times 1976
