A couple of working schnooks buy a winning lottery ticket and then have it stolen and the hunt is on. Fun story and some great comedic performances- Richard Pryor has a one-scene deal but he steals it, and Flip Wilson is hilarious as the Preacher, both church scenes he's in are awesome. Using my Pinewoods Rating System,I give this long-time fav Three Pinewoods...The Horror!!

Movie Review - - Film: Poitier in 2 Roles:Stars in and Directs 'Uptown' Comedy - NYTimes.com
The star as well as director of "Uptown Saturday Night" is Sidney Poitier, a man "whose way with comedy is reminiscent of Stanley Kramer's in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." It's less instinctive than acquisitive. He himself can't make anyone laugh but he knows people who can.
