SPEAKING OF ROD STEWART! - JEFF BECK TURDS DAY ROLLS ON W/ THE HORROR KNOWN AS "BECK-OLA"

Alright listen up now cause Late Night Party Albums 101 is in session. You want a heavy rock album to put on at 4 in the morning when you're at that place of trying to decide to just make it an all-nighter but you could use JUST a jolt of java or something, well here it is. Who doesn't want to hear Rod Stewart in prime voice with JB doing All Shook Up and Jailhouse Rock, right? A vastly overlooked record that has one big misfire and that's the running time, a paltry 30 mins, boooooo. But you want a quick jolt here it is- that half hour goes by quick but you'll love every second of it, I must also comment that I like how the last track, a great JB instrumental cuts off in mid-tape causing an abrupt fall-off-the-edge-of-the-cliff end to the album and adding a little more mystic to an already black sheep of JB's catalog....The Horror!!

Beck-Ola

This is a brilliant album, dense in texture, full of physical and nervous energy, equally appealing to mind and body. There is a guiding intelligence which enables these five excellent, assertive musicians to work with and not against each other.

Graded on a Curve: The Jeff Beck Group, Beck-Ola - The Vinyl District

I've never been a fan of Jeff Beck. I was indifferent to his work with the Yardbirds, and downright loathed the jazz-rock fusion he pawned off on suckers (yours truly included) in the mid-seventies. My basic feeling is this: tons of talent, too little great music.

THE SHEER HORROR!!
