HALLOWEEN WITH "THE BURNING"! - 1981 B-SLASHER W/ YOUNG JASON ALEXANDER - THE HORROR!!

A prank goes south in a major way when the victim is horrifically burned. Several years later he returns to get his revenge. A really cool b-flick with first time appearances on screen by Jason Alexander and Holly Hunter.....The Horror!! Pinewoods Rating System - Two & 3/4 Pinewoods

Movie Review: The Burning (1981)

A camp full of horny teenagers being stalked by an unknown murderer. Why does that sound familiar??? Because it's 1981's The Burning , one of the first films done by the original house of Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Miramax Films. FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!

DVD Review: The Burning (1981)

A classic 80's slasher, which turns out to be a mixed bag... In Attendance- Me, Eryn, TVG, and Cherrie. Cast Members of Note- The first ever film roles of Jason Alexander, Fischer Stevens, and Holly Hunter. Also, interestingly enough, this is a Weinstein-produced Miramax picture.

Really cool poster for a sequel that never happened.

BOINGO-TOBER 5! - THE YEAR IS 1994 THE SONG IS "WATER" THE TRACK THOH REMASTER- THE HORROR!

Well my friends, here comes the last THOH remaster for Boingo-Tober this year, one of my favorite songs for lyrics from Elfman, just an amazingly prolific song. The only official version we got is on the Farewell album and it's a great version but this is the original studio outtake. Why the song never made the '94 album is a crying shame, oh the horror of being a Boingo fan....Tomorrow we wrap the month with a very special post, see ya then....The Horror!!

HAVE A "BLOODY BIRTHDAY" ON HALLOWEEN! - 1981 HORROR SATURN BLOCKED ON 3 KIDS BIRTHDAYS

Greetings and Horrific Halloween to ya- 3 kids are born on the same birthday, a day that it just so happens Saturn was blocked in the sky by a full moon eclipse. The result being they have no shame to their evil, the sheer horror of it all. A classic under-rated 80's B-flick. Pinewoods Rating System - Two & 3/4 Pinewoods

Drive-In Dust Offs: BLOODY BIRTHDAY (1981) - Daily Dead

Blame The Bad Seed (1956) for every murderous moppet that has skipped across the screen in subsequent years. Village of the Damned, The Omen, The Good Son, The Children, and many more have explored the taboo of killer kiddies. One of the oddest of the bunch is Ed Hunt's Bloody Birthday (1981), a ridiculously fun ...

Netflix Review- Bloody Birthday (1981)

The 70's and 80's gave us a slew of Killer Kid movies, most of which were pretty good, or at least fun. Killer Kid movies usually tend to work well because it's pretty terrifying to imagine sweet little children killing people in heinous ways, especially in cold blood.

IT'S THE "TROLL" RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! - 1986 WIKI CALLS CULT DARK COMEDY FANTASY - THE HORROR!!

When it comes to Halloween. don't skip out on Troll cause he has some interesting tricks up his sleeve, ya dig? Wiki calls this a "cult dark comedy fantasy," whatever the heck that means. It's an 80's horror albeit a very imaginative one, my first time viewing it last night and using my Pinewoods Rating System and grading as a B-movie, Troll gets Two & 1/2 Pinewoods + 1/4 Pinewood for the horror of seeing Michael Moriaty dancing to Young Man Blues. Total Rating 2 & 3/4 Pinewoods.....The Horror!!

Troll (1986)

Okay, right away i want to make clear that Troll is actually not a bad movie. It's not. But for some reason a lot of people think it is. As of tonight (10-23-10), it has a 3.6 on IMDB. That's ridiculous. This movie has so much going for it.

Troll (1986)

Critics be damned. Troll is an imaginative, fun movie with a slice of horror served on the side. John Carl Buechler, t he same puppeteer who brought us the dazzling creatures in Ghoulies (1985), gives us another dose of his wicked imagination. A singing mushroom, fairies and little slimy things make the viewer smile with delight.

BOINGO-TOBER 5 TO FINISH W/ A BANG! - "GOT TO BE ENTERTAINED" NEW THOH - THE SHEER HORROR!

I first heard this obscure tune at a Whisky show in '81. It was the first time the tune was performed. I remember it because the xylophone used for the song I'm So Bad was close to where I was standing but stowed away behind some other gear. The show was going great and about half way through Danny was going to change the set list all of a sudden and do I'm So Bad as he yelled it out to some of the band members. Until one of them pointed to where the xylophone was and that was that. They did this song instead and the crowd ate it up. The source is a slightly hissy cassette of a rough mix of the tune. JOE DON BAKER IS "MITCHELL" IN THIS 1975 B-CRIME THRILLER! - A TRULY HORRIFYING MAN W/ A BADGE

I wouldn't necessarily use the term "milked" but Joe Don Baker sure appeared in a lot of early 70's flicks. His acting talents in general have never been that good and I've always felt that his performance in Charley Verrick as the hit man for the Mafia was one, if not his only, shining moments. Now, as to this obscure little B-flick- the first 10 minutes or so are actually pretty entertaining but then the film starts a slow continuous nose-dive into choppy plot, bad acting and some of the worst editing you'll ever see. You can read some real reviews below but commencing with the award, "Mitchell" gets a disappointing One Pinewood Tree....The Sheer Horror!!

Mitchell (1975) - MST3K Review

Mitchell (Joe Don Baker) is a cop who does what it takes to get the bad guys. This involves talking to J. Arthur Cummings (Martin Balsam) and Walter Deaney (John Saxon). It also involves sleeping with a hooker named Greta (Linda Evans). But mostly it involves him sitting in a car smoking, and being generally unpleasant.

Mitchell (1975) DVD Review: Uncut, Uncensored, and Uncouth - The Way It Should Be!

After quickly rising out of the mists in an uncredited bit in Cool Hand Luke in 1967, Texas-born character actor Joe Don Baker found himself nearing that proverbial spotlight many performers out there dream of.

BOINGO-TOBER 5 ! - RARE BOOT OF 1991 HALLOWEEN SHOW IN IRVINE - THE SHEER & UTTER HORROR!

Greetings all - Here comes the last of the Halloween shows for Boingo-Tober, a rare 1991 Irvine show that little is known about except- it's a Dvd feed, adequate but not great quality, there were 3 shows that year that brought in 40,000 and it was the most successful of the many years they did Irvine but also no date on this show. Good news, it is a complete show with, count 'em, 34 songs. Now THAT'S a show....The Horror!! 7daylink Rating A--- or if you prefer, B+++
