Revisiting a little flick called "THE SHELTERING SKY"! - 1990 British & Italian drama starring JOHN MALKOVICH & DEBRA WINGER as travelling tourists in Northern Africa, was this a flawed masterpiece or just.....THE HORROR!!

"Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless. "
Look up "flawed masterpiece" in the dictionary and it
says to see The Sheltering Sky. If the other components
were as good as the photography and acting this could
have been one of the best pictures of all time.
Having said that, the cinematography in this is
flat-out incomparable. John Malkovich is beyond
amazing as is Winger and a great character actor
named Timothy Spall is perfect for comic relief.
The third act can be a little unsettling as Winger
joins the caravan....literally. Using my Palm Springs
Rating System, flaws and all I have to give this
Four Palm Trees standing proudly....The Horror!!
