New Wave 101 is in session and these guys were one of the most tripped out. unique and interesting bands coming out at the time. Some say it's punk and the influences are surely there, you be the judge. Their first album on IRS records has never been released in another format. To illustrate just how far off the beaten path these guys were, IRS sat on their project over and over again and the funding was pulled for mixdown so the album suffers from that. In 1977, magazine printed a review of the band's performance as the opening act for Sha Na Na at Chicago's Arie Crown Theater. Finding Skafish to be a "peculiar appetizer for the straight, conservative crowd" that Sha Na Na attracted, the reviewer stated that "[l]arge numbers retreated to the lobby halfway through Skafish's set, while others approached the stage, threatening with missiles, gestures and denunciations."
