Cannes poster - May 2005
Weird-o-rama! Edward Norton plays a delusional drifter who
thinks he's a cowboy and likes to wrangle into people's
families taking the teen girl as a girlfriend at the same time
befriending her teen brother. David Morse, great as always
plays the dad and guns are brought out way early in the film
so it's pretty easy to see where it's going to land up. Although
one scene alludes, for the most part we're never given enough
background or reason why he's the way he is and Norton
seems to just drift thru the whole movie effortlessly like it's a
high school play. The film has a kind of weird vibe to it
throughout and I think the best thing that can be said
about it is it is a unique film. Using my new Pinewoods Rating
System, I give Down In The Valley Two Simple Pinewoods,
The Horror!!
