TOMMY'S TOP 5 HORRIFIC SUMMER BEACH MOVIES! - #3 JOHN CANDY TAKES FAMILY TO "SUMMER RENTAL"

Fun and at times hilarious, Summer Rental is an 80's film to covet. Everything about it is great but the real scene stealer is Richard Crenna, who has a dining room scene bound to crack anyone up. As you probably know, this ain't no editorial type blog so we'll commence with the summary- Pinewoods Rating System - Three Solid Pinewoods, a summer comedy must....The Horror!!

FILM: 'SUMMER RENTAL,' DIRECTED BY CARL REINER

''SUMMER RENTAL'' is a wan but good-natured hot-weather comedy, with a big debt to ''National Lampoon's Vacation'' plus a few nice touches of its own. John Candy is on familiar territory as the clownish patriarch of an all-American suburban family, but Mr. Candy is fun to watch under any circumstances.

Another classic Rip Torn role as the
goofball captain hook type guy.

THE MONKEES 2011 X 2! - 2 AUDIENCE CAPTURES,1 IN COLUMBUS,1 IN BATTLEGROUND - THE HORROR!

Welcome back once again, not 1 but 2 really cool Monkees shows from 2011 tour, this first one from Battleground, Wa has way too many songs to list, they do like 40, including a ton of B-sides just for that tour, great stuff, they actually still sounded pretty cool, backing band and all...The Horror!! A-/B+ aud, this is an old FF link that's still good, it's a .zip so it starts right away, don't let that horrify, I mean scare ya....
This other show comes from the Columbus, Ohio stop of tour and I believe is also a complete show. The taper was actually recording it for his wife and did a pretty dang good job, he starts with a bunch of Chatty Cathy's in first song or two but is smart to move away from them and most of the rest is great, similar sound on both of these, good mics used, set list, link. TOMMY'S TOP 5 HORRIFIC SUMMER BEACH MOVIES! - #4 TONY CURTIS IN 1967'S "DON'T MAKE WAVES"

Scopophilia, one of our recommended blogs is how I first found out about this one several years back, His blog specializes in 60's,70's and '80's cinema obscurities. Now this Tony Curtis flick is a romantic comedy and I must say my appreciation for him has grown over the years. The film suffers a bit with pacing particularly in the middle but overall it's a very entertaining watch and the then 1966 footage of Malibu locations is priceless. Dig this one, Pinewoods Rating System - Three Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Don't Make Waves (1967)

By Richard Winters My Rating: 5 out of 10 4-Word Review: House slides down cliff. Carlo (Tony Curtis) is a single 40-something man traveling through coastal California when he decides to pull his Volkswagen beetle over to the side of the road and get out to enjoy the gorgeous view.

Don't Make Waves (1967)

Carlo Cofield (Tony Curtis) is a New Yorker visiting southern California's beautiful beaches. Tragedy strikes on his first day in California, when his car tumbles down a hill and catches fire. Laura (Claudia Cardinale), who caused the fire, invites Carlo back to her place so he can get her insurance information.

ROD STEWART & THE FACES 1970! - REVISITING THE SHEER HORROR KNOWN AS "FIRST STEP"

Greetings all - My sincerest apologies for my slowness of speed this weekend, let's rock on with the last Faces post of 3, the black sheep of their discography. This was not a debut album that exactly changed the world, in fact it was mostly swept under the carpet and the US version of Warner Bros they couldn't even get the name right. Already in process under the name Small Faces it was too late to change it and the album cover is one of rock's biggest blunders. So what about the music? Painfully overlooked, this is the Faces at their true beginning, raw and unadulterated in a simple 8-track studio over just a few days and produced excellently. To those yet to navigate the First Step waters, dive in, it's okay to get wet.....The Horror!!

The Faces Albums From Worst To Best

We begin our discussion of the Faces, as we must, with "The Rod Conundrum" - one of the thorniest in all of rock and roll lore. Cue the ESPN 30 For 30 voice over: "What if we told you that Rod Stewart was once every bit as cool, dangerous, and desirable as Keith, Kurt, or Kanye ..."

Source: Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica October 30 1970, audience recording, listed as "Gm" in HW. rollingstones.net calls the CBM LP a "reissue"of the TMOQ release, yet HW originally wrote: "CBM 3 version is slightly better quality with SS(song separation)". This may be due to a bad pressing though.

TOMMY'S TOP 5 HORRIFIC SUMMER BEACH MOVIES! - THE HORROR KNOWN AS 1978'S "MALIBU BEACH"

Good ole Malibu Beach baby - The #5 entry is the first post for this drive-in clunker and it's the only drive-in/B-flick on the top 5 list. Get your air freshener out though cause this is one piece of crap. Everybody kind of cow-tows to a mindless and narrow script, result being 90 mins of eye candy and every Malibu cliche trunced out like the campfire, the body builder, the wimp, etc etc. Using my Pinewoods Rating System, Malibu Beach gets One Token Pine Tree....The Horror!!

House of Self-Indulgence: Malibu Beach (Robert J. Rosenthal, 1978)

Exploring the tenets of freedom, and I mean actual freedom, not the pretend version they hawk in national anthems and on game shows, Malibu Beach is one of the most dangerous movies I have ever seen. Tantamount to a wet, sloppy air kiss in the general direction of anarchy, the esteemed Robert J.

[REVIEW BY TRASHFILMGURU] MALIBU BEACH (1978) - Daily Grindhouse

Given that it's been - what, a few weeks? - since we dipped into the Crown International Pictures vault around here, I figured I'd fix that situation for you, dear reader, by taking a look at what is, as near as I can determine at any rate, the closest thing to an absolutely plotless film that CIP ever tossed up onto our nation's late, lamented drive-in screens.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES, IT'S THE "MASTER OF THE WORLD"! - 1961 VINCENT PRICE SCI-FI IS A HORROR

Early Charles Bronson, The Horror!! - Greetings folks as we launch into a mini-blog-a-thon this weekend including Tommy's Top 5 Horrific Summer Beach Movies. Thanks to the lame but somewhat reliable You Tube robots, this one washed up on my shore and a horrific one it is! Vincent Price plays the captain of the almighty Albatross, a splendid piece of machinery indeed. With just the possible exception of the majorly lame windows in the set supposed to be at front of ship, everything about this one is fun and the genius of Jules Verne and his story are given great justice. If you want to read a real review see below and using my Pinewoods Rating System award the Master Of The World and all it's accoutrements a worthy Three Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Master of the World

I gotta admit, I'm not exactly up on the whole "Steampunk" thing. I mean, I'd seen it in various movies, but never really made the association. Like when I saw the Will Smith abomination known as "Wild Wild West," I didn't think "oh, look at the cool steampunk," I thought, "a giant mechanical spider...really?"

Film Review: Master Of The World (1961)

SYNOPSIS: "In Morgantown Pennsylvania in 1868, the local residents hear a booming voice coming from the local mountain, the Great Eyrie. John Strock from the Department of the Interior is tasked with finding out just what is happening there and approaches Philip Evans for the use of his balloon which would allow him to view ...
