Alright listen up now cause Late Night Party Albums 101 is in session. You want a heavy rock album to put on at 4 in the morning when you're at that place of trying to decide to just make it an all-nighter but you could use JUST a jolt of java or something, well here it is. Who doesn't want to hear Rod Stewart in prime voice with JB doing All Shook Up and Jailhouse Rock, right? A vastly overlooked record that has one big misfire and that's the running time, a paltry 30 mins, boooooo. But you want a quick jolt here it is- that half hour goes by quick but you'll love every second of it, I must also comment that I like how the last track, a great JB instrumental cuts off in mid-tape causing an abrupt fall-off-the-edge-of-the-cliff end to the album and adding a little more mystic to an already black sheep of JB's catalog....The Horror!!
This is a brilliant album, dense in texture, full of physical and nervous energy, equally appealing to mind and body. There is a guiding intelligence which enables these five excellent, assertive musicians to work with and not against each other.
I've never been a fan of Jeff Beck. I was indifferent to his work with the Yardbirds, and downright loathed the jazz-rock fusion he pawned off on suckers (yours truly included) in the mid-seventies. My basic feeling is this: tons of talent, too little great music.
Here's a tasty lookin' one from a blog that calls itself World Of Jeff Beck Bootlegs. I've always said if there is one world I would want to be a part of, it's a world of Jeff Beck boots, ya dig me? Lol, rock on with your bad self and check this guys blog, he also has rare boots of JB with Mick J, JB with Stevie Ray Vaughn and JB with Rod Stewart....The Horror!!
You Had It Comingis the 2nd of three albums in a row showcasing the electronic beats and patterns kind of period he went through, although the 3rd, "Jeff" already starts to break away from that and is more broad and diverse in instrumentation than the first two. All three in imho are great albums and this is a short album running only 35 minutes with 10 tracks but oh so sweet...and a little naughty too, I think that describes our man of the day....The Horror!!
Sure, they've got lightning moves and thundering power, but guitar gods live by the same laws that govern lesser mortals: Only the most adaptable shall prevail. So now that old masters like Clapton and Santana are enjoying pop-propelled career rebirths, it's fair to ask, what about Jeff Beck?
Some people play a guitar. Jeff Beck attacks one. At his best the sounds he coerces from his white Strat are criminally inventive, rude-or in his words-"slippery". Pair this with the production and performance of Andy Wright, who has twiddled the knobs for everyone from Massive Attack to Simply Red, and you have what amounts to Jeff Beck doing the nasty at a rave.
Hey Everybody -Got this delicacy from a blog back about 5 years back during the MU days as I like to call them ha ha. So please forgive me for not giving proper credit to the original blog, plain n simple- this one's a goody. two parts 12The Horror!! Rating A+
A few of the movies I've been posting in the last couple months come from the 50-movie set B-Movie Blast by Millcreek. A splendid $12.99 expenditure if there ever was one. Similar to most of these repackaging efforts, you get a wide array and if you wind up with 5 or 7 you actually like, you can call yourself ahead of the game, ya dig? I suppose that number is upped a little with the b-movie collector but like a golden prize at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box, I pulled this sucker out for first view the other night, This movie was 2 years in the making and documents Ronald Shanin's victorious safari through Central & East Africa. For 75 minutes we get one majesty of nature after another as Mr Shanin tames lions, plays with tigers, helps natives, captures snakes like the Black Mamba and Egyptian Cobra (with his hands!) By the time the 75 minutes passes which is very quick he raps up by taking us to a live volcano. The narration is simple and sometimes funny, sometimes corny but very benign. Just a great watch for any animal lover of any age, I give African Safari the highest mark a b-flick can have- Two & 3/4 Pinewoods....The Horror!!
Stunning documentary on the wild life of Africa and one of the men who collects it for zoos and museums, director Ronald E. Shanin. With dozens of cable channels running nature shows and PBS running even more one feels over whelmed at times and very often one feels that one has seen all there is to see.
Greetings all -Closing out our little mini-Beatles fest is a dandy of a John Lennon boot known as "Unplugged" and what we used to call an oldie but a goodie ;-) dig on organic John, it's the only way to fly lol....The Horror!! FULL INFO
A collection of home demos 1980 right as Paul was transitioning to the next phase of his career, cool tunes as always from Macca, Afterall, he's the best at writing them....The Horror!! NOTES ON BOOT
Give us a smile, George! -The Seattle stop of the strange anomaly known as the 1974 US Tour is generally considered as one of the best sounding boots on a tour that saw Georgie dip into the cocaine, alcohol and tobacco smoking pools totally trashing his voice, the sheer horror of it all. So what are we left with? Those great songs and some awesome musicians on stage- and for most Beatles fans, that's just fine enough....The Horror!! Audio below - link to Big O's for dl
Greetings folks -Getting the week off to a majorly horrific start today, kickin ass and taking numbers, ya dig? Hope you are too, here's a cool show from Ringo just a little over a month ago in Denver, review and link below. Why wait for some schnooks to press a record in the middle of the night when we have all this technology....The Horror!! - Note - If in US, use the "mirror" link for rapidgator
Greetings all -Get your boners started, we're ending the week with 4 great cover tunes from that triple trombone rock band known as Bonerama. Songs include a version of Jimi's Crosstown Traffic and an awesome take on War Pigs, all four tunes are public domain from approved taping venues, enjoy....The Horror!!
Greetings folks -Operating at about half speed now but we're getting close to our destination. Enjoy a gem from the BC Archives, a dandy of a show I got in a trade same year. Show is notable for being the first (or one of first) right after Marc Ford quit. Paul Stacey is on board and as you know, he's NO SLOUCH, ya dig? Like the dude can hold his own with Rich, ya feel me? Groovy baby. Also for whatever reason this show is a nice generous 1 setter instead of the 2 they were doing at that time. Add a killer version of Who's "The Seeker" and we're talking an absolute....HORROR!!set list link Rating A aud
Psycho-Cop washed up on my shore via a You Tube reco. As far as I know this is a direct-to-vhs release from 1989, not bad, not bad at all for a b-flick. You can read some real reviews below, using my Pinewoods Rating System I give Psycho-Cop a paltry One & 3/4 Pinewoods....The Horror!!
Pause for a moment, gentle reader, and let me take you to a magical place known as the early 90s. More specifically, let's visit my life during the early 90s. You know what, let's just skip this altogether.
Movies like Psycho Cop depend on their villains being super cool instruments of death, dismemberment, and destruction! They need to look like a bad ass, they need to demonstrate cunning and power, and while they don't necessarily need to speak, when they do, they need to be able to deliver those vicious one-liners with convincing...

The Analog Kid is one of our newer recommended blogs. The kid's got something going there, cool posts for rock n roll fans, check him out and this post about "Sara" 7" single and more....The Horror!!
Here's your ticket to some of the best (or, perhaps, most infamous) 7" singles ever released! No adapter is required, although in my opinion the device pictured below is right up there with Count Chocula as one of the best inventions of the 20th century. Today is Stevie Nick's 68th birthday.
Greetings all - it appears as though my long best friend, busom buddy and life-long friend has posted an interesting Black Sabbath curiosity, their appearance on the legendary Don Kirshner's Rock Concert in 1975. Check him out, you know, the guy with the vinyl boots and softcore porn?....The Horror!!
Hello All, Today I offer up one from some of our past with that great T.V. Show known as Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. One of those shows I use to watch on a regular basis as a teen. A fine one for your Black Sabbath Bootleg files. ENJOY........
The Sheer Horror!! - Very pleasantly surprised with this George Romero flick never seen. You can read real reviews below cause this ain't no editorial type blog, ya dig? I really dug it, maybe could have used a little trimming 10-15 mins but otherwise a great one. I'm going Three Solid Pinewoods on this one...The Horror!!
Monkey Shines" opens with a textbook illustration of the Perfect Day Theory, which teaches that when a movie opens with a glorious depiction of a perfect day in the life of the hero, the joy is always a prelude to tragedy. In this case, Allan, the hero, goes jogging, is struck by a truck and awakens as a quadriplegic.
Based on the novel by Michael Stewart and filmed on location in Romero's beloved Pittsburgh, Monkey Shines is a decent little thriller for a cold night in on the couch. Quick warning though: the film features caged animal experimentation (though we're not talking documentary here, of course no animals were harmed during the production).
Greetings all -going to be continuing my trek up to the misty mountain top, probably be back full swing next week, hope you ALL are having a HORRIFIC week and thanks so much for visiting. THOH is at it's highest level yet with a thousand views now a day....The Horror!!
