Burnt Purple is an ole skool cd boot of a glorious nature. The Bremen show on the Burn tour demonstrates just how great this band was back in the day. Generally graded A-/B+, my opinion is just slightly less with a firm B Grade on the audience capture....The Horror!!

ANDES SURVIVORS 1976 FEATURE "SUPERVIVIENTES DE LOS ANDES" USA NAME "SURVIVE" THE HORROR!

In 1976, a good decade and a half before the movie "Alive" came out, there was this- the original Mexican movie version of the now legendary Andes survivors story. What it lacks in production values it certainly makes up in the adaption as a more faithful retelling of the story. It also spends appropriate time covering the other side of their ordeal which was the parents and authorities search party efforts, something totally discarded in the '92 Alive film. Unfortunately, as far as features go, these are the only two films about the survival saga. Hopefully someday we'll get a feature film that really does this amazing story of survival the justice it deserves....The Horror!!

"Survive!" is a fairly awful movie, but the essential heroism of its subject matter somehow emerges intact. That makes it a difficult movie to review - you can't just dismiss it with cheap shots, you have to deal with the fact that it does have an emotional impact.

PRINCE 1988! - NETHERLANDS LOVESEXY AFTER-SHOW IS AN EX+ MUST-HAVE BOOT - THE SHEER HORROR!!

This after-show at the Hague is generally considered one of the best shows and boots to have for the Prince fan. While I don't like to pin myself down to just one favorite of anything, I would say this is a great classic show and perfect for the rock n roll crowd....The Horror!!

Prince has a biological son who is not mentioned in the probate case ... at least according to the alleged son. Carlin Q. Williams of Missouri is 39 years old and filed legal docs claiming his mom met Prince in the lobby of the Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri back in July, 1976.

Once upon a time there were three. Here comes another entry in the continuing series, an album starter and gem of a rocker called Woman. The song is written by Fraser/Rodgers and was on the 2nd Free album. Cory sings lead but all 3 are very prominent in the vocals. The version here is by a vinyl restoration society so it's a really nice and clean HQ rip from a first pressing of It Ain't Easy....The Horror!!

MICHAEL DES BARRES 1984! - 'CHEQUERED PAST' & MY BIG FIGHT AT THE ROXY - THE SHEER HORROR!

Greetings one and all. Some of you probably remember that thru the years I've shared some great concert stories and how lucky I feel to have witnessed them. This is the first time sharing this story but first let's introduce Chequered Past. They were a short-lived supergroup fronted by Michael Des Barres and included members of Blondie and Sex Pistols. Formed in '82 they were originally just a live band and when I saw them at the Roxy that year, they opened up with a version of Go-Go's "Vacation." I remember MDB sang the shit out of it and I was front center on the floor. It had been two years since I had first seen him at John Anson Ford and I was more than a little excited about it. A couple songs in they did Bullfighter from his solo album and I was rallying everyone around me at the front cheering and raising fists. My girlfriend suddenly got very jealous of this and a full on verbal fight to the death argument ensued. It was so bad the argument spilled out into the sidewalk, I missed most of the show and while I've never hit a woman in my life, I think I might have that night....The Horror!!

If there's one ship I don't mind being late for, it's the DeathShip ya dig me? Greetings all around this horrific world tonight. George Kennedy stars in this 80's schlock fest on the sea. Lovers of b-movies and all things bad in general will dig this hokey ghost story, probably for all the same reasons we like the other ones. What those reasons are, I haven't the faintest idea. Using my Pinewoods Rating System I award Death Ship One and only One Dilapidated Pinewood....The Horror!!

Usually when I review a movie I have a clear-cut goal that I reach (sometimes) by the end: I tell you whether or not the movie itself is worth watching. But with Death Ship, I find my work cut out for me - because even though I enjoyed the movie, I can't really recommend that you go out of your way to seek it.

A classic boot that got the redux treatment in 2013 as pictured above, 1 cd, 1 7" vinyl and 1 12" vinyl, the horror! The show at centerpiece was captured finely by an audience member at a time when Elvis was still going strong. It is also of interest for the brief time period that Elvis used The Impossible Dream as his closer instead of Can't Help Falling In Love With You....The Horror!!

The Stones are recording Let It Bleed, Ry Cooder is in studio and everyone is waiting for Keith who does show up but then leaves again, supposedly to come back but never does. It's late, there's a buzz-on and the boys jam. In this case being Jagger, Wyman, Watts, Cooder and longtime Stones pianist Nicky Hopkins who shines like a bright star on this 35 minute, 6 track album. Much better than the stigma that's followed it around for years....The Horror!!

Some good acting performances help drive this sour-toned road trip flick to it's ultimate destination, think of it like Joyride (1977) with alot more crime and with 3 people instead of 4. Interesting flick, much better than I was expecting. Made in '87 but held up for two years. The director showed his cut at Cannes without permission from the studio and so they sat on it and in '89 went straight-to-video, Using my Pinewoods Rating System and grading as a b-movie I happily award Made In USA Two & 3/4 Pinewoods, the highest possible rating....The Horror!!

Greetings all - Recently I posted an official release called Philly '76 and while we're on that particular time period then let's throw out one more with Lady Bianca and looks like it was the first of that tour. Originally double vinyl put out in '87 and again in '88, the audience recording is quite decent, sounds like they used a good mic, B+/A- area and these original boots had two songs of filler from a NYC show that is rated less than C....The Horror!!

NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL 2008 - Folk festival? The Horror! Just checked this one out earlier today and it's pretty unique. They start out acoustic with just Chris & Rich and while they are doing a fest, the set list is not more hits-laden like usual but more of a BC fans set, ya dig me? Groovy.

FILLMORE 8-5-05 - This 4th show in a 5-night stand is a Crowes fan must-have, The show takes place on the 10th anniversary of Jerry Garcia's passing and the Crowes open up with He's Gone. The set list is nothing short of stunning with a little something for everyone, 2-sets and the first half of the 2nd set is an acoustic sit-down.

RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL NYC 2001 - Haven't checked out too many of the '01 shows but this looks like a great place to start. First of a 3-night stand.
