RUN FOR YOUR LIVES, IT'S THE "MASTER OF THE WORLD"! - 1961 VINCENT PRICE SCI-FI IS A HORROR

Early Charles Bronson, The Horror!! - Greetings folks as we launch into a mini-blog-a-thon this weekend including Tommy's Top 5 Horrific Summer Beach Movies. Thanks to the lame but somewhat reliable You Tube robots, this one washed up on my shore and a horrific one it is! Vincent Price plays the captain of the almighty Albatross, a splendid piece of machinery indeed. With just the possible exception of the majorly lame windows in the set supposed to be at front of ship, everything about this one is fun and the genius of Jules Verne and his story are given great justice. If you want to read a real review see below and using my Pinewoods Rating System award the Master Of The World and all it's accoutrements a worthy Three Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Master of the World

I gotta admit, I'm not exactly up on the whole "Steampunk" thing. I mean, I'd seen it in various movies, but never really made the association. Like when I saw the Will Smith abomination known as "Wild Wild West," I didn't think "oh, look at the cool steampunk," I thought, "a giant mechanical spider...really?"

Film Review: Master Of The World (1961)

SYNOPSIS: "In Morgantown Pennsylvania in 1868, the local residents hear a booming voice coming from the local mountain, the Great Eyrie. John Strock from the Department of the Interior is tasked with finding out just what is happening there and approaches Philip Evans for the use of his balloon which would allow him to view ...

WELCOME TO TOMMY'S HOUSE OF HORRORS, IT'S A "STONES 45 PARTY"! - DJ THE PIPE SPINS A FEW

One of the first posts four years ago, this is a fun listen from a DJ called The Pipe, he had a blog back in '09 & '10 where he posted his original radio shows. This one has him spinning Stones 45's of many different areas, warts and all- mono, UK only, etc and time-wise he basically sticks with 60's and 70's stuff. Bad news- this was in two volumes and the 2nd is long gone...The Horror!!

IT'S THE "ATOMIC TRAIN," RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! - 1999 TV FLICK WILL HAVE YOU RUNNING FOR HELL!

Atomic Train isn't the worst train movie ever. But it's pretty darn close. Rife with production blunders so much that the flick has a stigma attached to it, especially from those that work in the rail industry and like to watch train flicks themselves. The story is certainly there for a real barn-burner thriller but unfortunately nothing ever goes beyond the shallow end of the pool and what we're left with are some pretty locations, cool train footage here and there and 2 hours and 45 minutes of ho-hum boredom horror. Using my Palm Springs Rating System, Atomic Train receives a special award known as the One Palm Tree In The Wrong Place Award...The Sheer Horror!

This tired city was somebody's dream
Billboard horizons as black as they seem
A four-level highway across the land

Prices are rising, the devil's to pay

Prayer books and meetings to find a plan?
Deciding the fate of the family of man

LA PUNK 1977! - THE HORROR OF A BAND KNOWN AS "THE BAGS" OR ALICE & THE BAGS LEGENDARY BAND

Punk rock bands new and old owe a tip of the hat to this great LA punk band, they used to play at the Masque which was raided by the fire department just about every night it was open for overcrowding.
It was a great time to be a pill-popping 14 year-old living in Hollywood, let me tell ya....The Horror!!
This album is considered to be in the public domain, YouTube stream below, Link to mp3@192

STEPPENWOLF 1972! - CLASSIC OLE SKOOL CD BOOT FROM SWINGING PIG, SWEDEN SHOW THE HORROR

Another one of those "in case you missed it before" titles from the archives, The world of Steppenwolf bootlegs, if it can be called that, is few and far between. Considering that some form of Steppenwolf toured almost every year for a 40-year span we'd think more but they're just not as loved a band in the years and decades later although they sounded great and still made new music. Here's a classic from the last year of the first incarnation of the Wolf which parted in '72. An outstanding soundboard from one of the great bands of all time....The Horror!! Rating A+

IGGY POP HAS A VERY SIMPLE MESSAGE- "BEAT 'EM UP"! - OVERLOOKED 2001 ALBUM THE SHEER HORROR

"To tell the sucking truth, Everybody's dreams get used. Twist me till i drip, Liquid of emotions ripped. Every hungry soul hides a hungry fool - Life's to take, says the talking snake, everybody should be happy life's to take, says the talking snake, everybody should be happy" - Talking Snake
Mom and dad worked and saved, good and honest everyday For they're sweat , what did they get? An old age home and a medical debt" - Beat 'Em Up
Now that I've whetted your Iggy Pop appetite with last month's Naughty Little Doggie, we're wheeling out what may very possibly be his most overlooked album. An absolute horrific double album's worth of material on this 16-song meaty collection of songs. Who else could write songs like It's All Shit, Drink New Blood, Ugliness, need I say more? The Horror!!

Iggy Pop: Beat 'Em Up

I've never understood the Cult of Iggy. The Stooges records I've heard sound pretty good-- kind of a rougher, more driving version of what the Stones were doing in the early 70s-- and I like the highlights from his solo career. But I never felt the scrape of the edge Pop was said to possess.

IT'S "THE BOOGENS," RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! - 1981 B-FLICK A LEADER IN YEAR OF MUCH...HORROR!!

One of the first 80's horror flicks I saw when starting this b-movie interest and it has stuck with me as one of the more entertaining ones. A very original story and I dig how they connect the mineshaft with the house. Very nice eye candy with the two leads, cool locations, it's got it all, thumbs up, way up for The Boogens. Pinewoods Rating System - Two & 3/4 Pinewoods - Honorable mention in last year's top 10 b-flicks....The Horror!!

The Boogens

The Boogens (1981) *** Believe it or not, I've been waiting to see this movie for nearly twenty years. The Boogens aired on cable TV one summer (it was probably the summer of '82, although it could possibly have been '83 as well- movies took longer to work their way around to cable in those days), and I must have seen the trailer on The Movie Channel dozens of times.

Film Review: The Boogens (1981)

SYNOPSIS: In a small town near Denver, two young men begin to explore a long-abandoned old mine recently re-opened by a group of minors. When one the men is discovered missing, his friends begin a search that leads them to horrifying consequences. They're all unaware of the evil that's been unleashed and soon, one by ...
