DOUBLE SHOT OF THE DOORS 1972! - THE HORROR KNOWN AS "WEIRD SCENES INSIDE THE GOLDMINE"

The Door's first compilation album hits a grand slam out of the park- song selection, the way their ordered, the artwork, I dig everything about this double platter, and always have.

LOOKS LIKE AN INTERESTING ONE FROM THE DOORS 1972! - RARE CHICAGO GIG W/O JIM - THE HORROR!!

Here's one you don't see everyday-
A Doors boot recorded at a show after Jim was already gone, what the...why do I get the "shouldn't look at the car accident but can't help to" feeling, hmmm I'm going to have to work myself up to this one, someone pass the doobie....The Horror!!

ROY SCHEIDER PLAYS A GAME OF "52 PICK-UP"! - 1986 BLACKMAIL THRILLER AN UNDERRATED HORROR

"HELLOOOO, SPORT!"
Slightly underrated this one, but not everyone can always get into sleazy characters in the pornography world. A box office loss and mostly shunned by the critics (except Roger Ebert) there's really quite a lot to admire here- an Elmore Leonard adaptation, LA scenery, veteran directing, and five-star 100% spot-on casting. Which btw also includes the recently departed Vanity  and one of the all-time great bad-guy performances by John Glover, a multi-nominated Emmy winner who attacks his role with an intense but at the same time comically melodramatic stance. His way of calling people "sport" here and there thru the movie adds more uniqueness to his villainous role. Throw in a few brief cameos by Ron Jeremy, Amber Lynn & Jamie Gillis, all porn superstars at the time and we can only say one thing....The Horror!!

Robin's Underrated Gems: 52 Pick-Up (1986)

It seems that that every time we do a podcast, I always wind up kicking myself for forgetting to mention something. This week, we doesn't get the respect it deserves is because it was produced by the infamous Cannon Group.

52 Pick-Up Movie Review & Film Summary (1986) | Roger Ebert

The old golden age Warner Bros. crime dramas knew something that most modern movies have forgotten: Heroes are great, but a movie is only as good as its villain. John Frankenheimer's "52 Pick-Up" provides us with the best, most reprehensible villain of the year and uses his vile charm as the starting point for a surprisingly good film.

ALICE COOPER BAND 1977! - DOUBLE SHOT OF ALICE W 'BILLION DOLLAR BABIES' NOT THE ALBUM THE BAND

Some things are simply not meant to be regardless of the best of intentions. This album falls into that category. Songs are El Stinko, the singer is trying to sound like Alice and with the exception of some cool guitar licks from Michael, it's hard to believe these are the same guys (or at least 3 of them) that did something as brilliant as Halo Of Flies. This one really IS a horror...ha ha.

ALICE COOPER 1977! - THE SHEER HORROR OF AN ALBUM CALLED "THE ALICE COOPER SHOW"

Pretty cool artwork but it's all downhill from there.
Reviews were not kind to this, Alice's first live album and all for good reasons. I don't think I've ever met a fan that didn't talk about the song selection and the edited-down versions of songs. Almost like let's see how much sh*t we can put in one 40 minute shoe. The album is not without merit but the check marks in production and guitar work can't save it from becoming the "sold out" mess it is. The timing of it's release in
in a way acts as a bridge from his old classic rock stuff to several decades of exploring other sounds and concepts before really settling back into his hard rock roots with '03's The Eyes Of Alice Cooper. I do own this live album but honestly can't remember the last time I put it on...The Horror!!

FINISHING THE WEEK OFF WITH A LITTLE TRIP "INTO THE NIGHT"! - 1985 JOHN LANDIS HORROR-PIECE

David Bowie cameo.
Sinfully under-rated, John Landis with the help of more than a few friends crafted this brilliant film that really doesn't fit into any genre specific, it's basically Landis' love letter to LA, that's how I see it. I owe an eternal dept of gratitude to a friend named James Costello who turned me on to this right when it came out, overtime it's become a major favorite. Highly recommend!

A SUNDAY NIGHT POST FOR "BEST FRIENDS"! - 1975 DRIVE-IN FARE ROAD TRIP FLICK TRULY THE HORROR!

Through a slightly better level of acting and production values, Best Friends carves it's niche nicely in the drive-in, b-movie world. A simple road trip flick with two best friends and their girls turns dark when one
of the friends (who just came back from Nam) starts displaying psychotic behavior with intentions to break
up his buddy's plan to settle down and marry his girl. Since this ain't no editorial type blog, I'll go ahead and

CHICAGO 1971! - THE HORROR THAT IS "CARNEGIE HALL DISC 4 BONUS DISK" W/ ALTERNATE VERSIONS

Chicago At Carnegie Hall is one of
greatest overlooked live albums. It's
excellent album but the timing of
release sucked big-time and has given
it a bit of a stigma over the decades.
I mean who wouldn't want to hear
Chicago live doing most of the 1st
and 2nd album as well as a few tunes
from 3, ya dig? In 2005, it found a
home with Rhino and got the remaster
treatment with the addition of this,
the bonus disk which has 8 tunes
in alternates not on the LP. Seeing
as they played a whole week there,
they must have had some tasty choices,
this 54 min showcases them and is
a great listen...The Horror!!
