Rare one, can't say I've seen this one before although I
have seen the out-of-print VHS this is ripped from.
However, it could be a more direct source or perhaps
they doctored it up, anyways it sounds really nice!

JOHN KAY & STEPPENWOLF 1992! - REVISITING "LIVE AT 25" A HORRIFIC 2-CD SET OF VARIOUS SHOWS
great concert memories, I was seeing these guys live a LOT
in the early 90's in LA, if they made any stops in LA
or Orange counties, I was there. They played a lot at the
Coach House down there and those kind of places,
this set which is recorded at various stops on the '92
tour perfectly reflects a typical set list
and vibe of those shows...enjoy, The Horror!!
This live album proves that if nothing else, some classic rock legends can still actually rock. That's not to say that all of Live at 25 is brilliant; John Kay, bless his soul, has tried to write new material through the years with varying degrees of uninspiring quality. The band perform them here, and well, but they pale in comparison to the older tracks which they perform even better (with the possible exception of the guitar work, which sounds a bit too influenced by '80s metal). Kay's voice sounds as if its in better shape than ever, which is quite a feat for someone with such gritty tone, but the proof is in the pudding as they say - "Move Over," "Sookie Sookie," and even the classics like "Born To Be Wild" don't have that lifeless quality that some bands succumb to in later years. In fact on the latter song, the band jam out with vigor, making this version possibly as good as any version that exists (well, save for the original). Well worth the small investment for Steppenwolf fans, and despite a few over-the-top moments, a primer for other '70s groups still on the road: sound like you still have this much passion, and you'll do fine for a while yet.- James Hayashi-Tennant

attended-1980 @ The Roxy - John had just got the Wolf
name back proper and these were the first shows of the
band we came to know as JK & Steppenwolf. It was my
18th birthday and I had just started LACC as a music
major. To say this show had a little impact on me....yep.
2. Victorville Calif Fair approx 1995 - Memorable for
being outdoors at night and doing two full concert sets with
more songs than usual but most memorable for the two
teenage boys that I sat next to first set and proceeded
to turn on to a spliff I had brought along for the show and
the extremely angry looks from nearby adults.

3. Portland 2005 - It was at a big food festival they have up
there in October and the stage was right below and in front
of this walkway overpass thing. During the concert you
could see all these fans that claimed a spot on the walkway
for that cool vantage point and some on the sides so pretty
much everywhere you looked 360 there were fans. They
also played an extremely rare version of Rise & Shine
close to the end that brought the house down.

MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY ON A FRIED EGG DAY NIGHT! - 1993 OVERLOOKED WOODY ALLEN HORROR
I find the time period of about 88-89 to 94 to be one of the most interesting with a lot of good films that were overshadowed by Woody's personal problems, ironically probably the source of such good art. This one from 1993 is one of my favs with all the usual Allen components that work and Alan Alda who Allen has used several times to excellent effect and Alda seems very comfortable. This film is also notable for a lot of really good hand-held cam work, not common in other Allen films.

"Pretty As You Feel" and "Feel So Good" are fantastic extended versions, and were also available in "The Saga Of Sidney Spacepig" bootleg. A real must for every Airplane fan. The other tracks are pure instrumental jams. Sound quality is excellent stereo. All in all, great stuff. - Collector

IT'S THE 'HOBGOBLINS' RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! - 1988 GREMLINS WANNA-BE TRULY HORRIFIC B-FLICK
Not as bad as I expected and if by chance I had not seen
Gremlins like everybody else, then the special effects are
not bad either. Everything else is terrible and this would
be another one of those to see one time if you're a
b-movie fan, not one you'd likely pull of the shelf,

TONIO K 1986! - REVISITING "ROMEO UNCHAINED" STEVE'S SO CALLED CROSSOVER HORROR!
Calling Tonio K's Romeo Unchained a crossover album
is one of the great preposterous blunders in rock
music history. Even the Christians didn't buy it.
The only even slight reference to God of any kind
or religion is on the last song, an acoustic closer
with his bud T-Bone Burnett on guitar.
What this really is though is a fine collection
of prolifically written tunes from the man
we've come to expect that from. This is one
of his best and while sounding a tad dated,
when this sucker came out, they were using
the best and most sophisticated sequencers
around which was the rage that year.
Most of the songs stick to the romantic and
romantic loss matters and stuck in the middle
as side 2 opener is a great Tonio K rocker
that had history long before this album going
back to his early days. It's classic cynical stuff
from my man Steve as he makes his declaration
to the world about the circus freak people we
meet in the music business, it's called
I Handle Snakes, ya dig? The Horror!!
