The Cure Recreate First Three Albums At The Sydney Opera House | NME.COM

Australia is usually known for its glorious climate - Bondi Beach sunbathers, shrimps on the barbie, frolicking dolphins, and all that - but the Cure brought the gloomy English weather with them when they journeyed south of the equator to play the Vivid Festival at the Sydney Opera House on May 31/June 1.

"ALL THAT JAZZ" AT 37! - REVISITING THE 1979 MULTI OSCAR WINNER ABOUT 1 THING: DEATH -THE HORROR

Showtime folks! - In 1979, Bob Fosse unleashed on the world a movie masterpiece and one of the greatest films in cinema. All That Jazz, (to go along with his other one called Cabaret) is a beautifully metaphoric film on death and an autobiography at same time all wrapped up in a dance musical by the guy who could choreograph like none other. There are so many great things about this film but as you may know, this ain't no editorial type blog so using my Pinewoods Rating System, All That Jazz receives the rare Five Tall Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Why my video essay about "All that Jazz" is not on the Criterion blu-ray | MZS | Roger Ebert

Nerve wants to be a cautionary tale about the perils of desiring fame through social media, but it isn't willing to go to the darker... Star Trek Beyond The Star Wars-ification of Star Trek continues; better than the others, but still not good enough.

All That Jazz was Bob Fosse's portrait of the artist as total bastard

Every day, WatchThis offers staff recommendations inspired by a new movie coming out that week . This week : With Battle Of The Year 3-D waltzing into theaters, we look back on other movies about dancers. All That Jazz (1979) Strictly speaking, All That Jazz isn't about a dancer.

STONES 1973! - MICK JAGGER IS TOTALLY DRUNK IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA TOUR WRAP - THE HORROR!

A curious stage in Stones history. the Winter Tour '73 as it came to be called saw Mick Taylor do his last shows on US soil. A turbulent couple of months for the boys trying to get clearance for Japan and Australia as well, the tour also happens to contain some of the really great Stones shows. They would climb even higher and peak on the European Tour later that year but these shows were more subdued and at the same time they were not as flamboyant or decadent as the previous years US Tour. This tour closer in Sydney is an excellent soundboard tour and the band is in great shape. Jagger is fucked up right from his first in-between song banter after Brown Sugar and by the time the introductions roll around he is really drunk and bordering on hilarious. Doesn't matter much though, the band is kickin' and god knows what they're on....The Horror!!

Why Mick Jagger Never Goes Out of Style

The Mick Jagger look-the sartorial embodiment of rock star swagger for the past 50 years-is unmistakable, and iconic. The hair, the lips, the unforgettable outfits, it's all pure Mick. Though Jagger's style is instantly recognizable, it has never been stagnant; the star evolves his look to suit each era, continuously finding himself at the forefront of trends.

PATTI SMITH PERFORMS ENTIRE "HORSES" ALBUM AT LONDON ROUNDHOUSE 2015! - THE SHEER HORROR

Oh myyyy, this is one of those "i wish i was at THIS show" bootleg moments, incredible show in front of a very enthusiastic London audience. Is it my imagination lads or have we gotten just a little more unruly in the applause department over the years. Anyways, killer show here, A-grade audience capture and the You Tube upper did a nice job of adding a photo collage of shots from the show to go with the audio. Just one listen to this show proves why she holds the crown The Godmother Of Punk and the mother ain't goin' nowhere, ya dig? The Horror!! Link to set list.

NOT FROM THE BLACK CROWES ARCHIVES 2009! - BEAVER CREEK COLORADO STOP AN UTTER HORROR

Greetings folks! - Startin' the week off with one of my personal favorite Before The Frost shows. It's about half way through the several months they toured in support of that double album. Some of the set lists combining the new material with the rest of their catalog plus the endless array of cover tunes they pull off made these shows some of the most interesting in their career. The show starts with two acoustic tunes from the new album and their take on Poor Elijah as they slowly build up to the rockers and the band is in amazing form, '09 was their peak we now know....The Horror!! This is an old sugermegs link but it works and only in lo-fi as the standard mp3 on that show is missing. If you can get beyond all that then dig on a horrific show set list link

STONES 1989! - "25 x 5" BY LORNE MICHAELS REMAINS #1 PICK FOR STONES DOC - THE HORROR!

Greetings Folks! - While I thought Crossfire Hurricane was good and fun to watch, this little sucker from 1989 remains my pick for best doc on the Stones. Released the year after the Steel Wheels tour their story is told from '62 to '89 and wraps up with a great official video at that time for Rock and A Hard Place. A generous running time of a bit over two hours keeps things interesting with lots of rare footage and even though the doc gets more dated with each passing year, this still remains the only doc where the Stones told their story in their own words. Surprisingly enough it has never been released on anything but the original VHS's. You can find them on Ebay or Amazon, there's a few out there right now in the 10-15 dollar range which is a steal for this title, should be priced at least 20+ and worth tracking down....The Horror!! Link.
Majorly cool pic!
CHARLIE'S HORROR!!

FROM THE BLACK CROWES ARCHIVES! - COLUMBUS 2006 IS A RARE ELECTRIFIED SET OF HORRORS

One of the first Crowes shows I ever obtained in a trade, this show from Aug 1, 2006 at the LC Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio was the first '06 show where the sets were split - acoustic & electric. Unfortunately, I only have the electric currently. A splendid set with A+ sound, the set opens up with a blistering version of Got To Get Better In A Little While. During Young Man, Old Man a fight breaks out and Chris stops the song funny enough just as they're about to transition from the bridge back to the main progression. Chris delivers one of his older hippy sermons he was sort of known for on that tour. After order is restored in quick fashion, they go right into the transition like it never happened, classic! Great set....The Horror!!

DEEP PURPLE 8-TRACK RIP! - THE SHEER HORROR OF THE ORIGINAL "BURN" ALBUM 1974 GROOVY BABY

Kind of a special post on this one and with a dedication as well to my ole pal, bosom buddy, chumley, and life-long friend. You know Ed over at Ed's Attic, the guy with the vinyl boots and softcore porn?
Marking a first for a 8-track rip, this sounds a lot better than it looks. The uploader uses a pro rig and the bottom end sounds great, a bit similar to vinyl, enjoy this rarity that ushered in a whole new Deep Purple era. Short-lived but tremendous.....The Horror!!
In 1974, Rolling Stone called this album "a passable but disappointing effort" and that the new material was "largely drab and ordinary,"....The Horror!!
Did you have one of THESE when you were young? If so, congratulations, you're perfect for this blog....The Horror!!
THE SHEER HORROR!!

THE NAME OF THE BAND IS SHONUFF AND THE ALBUM IS "ARE WE LIVE?"! - 1999 INDIE CD IS THE HORROR

A funk/rock band active in the late 90's, Shonuff were actually told by several national acts they opened for that they blew them off the stage. A four man band sometimes compared to Living Colour, these guys quickly became known for their high-energy live shows and literally toured from one end of the country to the next (although they were mostly known in the South.) This show which they recorded for their second CD, Are We Live? (1999) was recorded at Nick's Fat City in their hometown and as you will hear they set a level of intensity from note one and do not let up through all 12 tracks including a burning cover of Lenny Kravitz "Always On The Run" A great live album with such exuberance that had they been successful it would have earned it's rank alongside such greats as Made In Japan and Ya-Ya's. Enjoy a fresh rip of an indie cd long out of print and hard to find....The Horror!!

TOMMY'S TOP 5 HORRIFIC SUMMER BEACH MOVIES! - DRUM ROLL FOR #1 THE HORROR KNOWN AS "10"

The one and only Dee Wallace as the lonely Mary Lewis is just a small part of the film but Dee really makes her mark in this movie called 10 that is a 10. Just one of those things where it all came together with the right timing. I also have another theater-going story with this as me and two buddies from my dorm at boarding school went into town the weekend this came out with a van load of students. This school was like a last chance for bad boys that had already been expelled from other boarding schools so getting any kind of weed or anything was practically impossible. However, birds of a feather flock together and the 3 of us 11th graders went around the back and smoked what has to be the all-time pinner of pinners. I remember each of us only had like one good hit off that thing and it was gone but when you're in boarding school and you haven't smoked for weeks, it doesn't take much. I just remember how nice of a surprise that was and we walked in and really enjoyed this picture....The Horror!! Pinewoods Rating System - Four Outstanding Pinewoods. Dudley Moore was an amazing talent and if you've never seen this, I would remind you he was a brilliant concert pianist as well and there's several scenes where he's actually playing but it's the one in the middle where he plays the whole piece written by Henry Mancini, priceless!

Every 70s Movie: "10" (1979)

It's not difficult to identify some of the reasons why writer-director Blake Edwards' sex comedy "10" struck a nerve during its highly successful initial release. The story of a middle-aged man who can't stand the fact that young swingers are having wild sex while he's stuck in a frosty monogamous relationship, the picture spoke to a whole generation of squares who felt like they were missing out on the erotic perks of the counterculture.

10 (1979)

By Richard Winters My Rating: 3 out of 10 4-Word Review: Bo Derek is hot. George Webber (Dudley Moore) is a successful songwriter who has just turned 42 and finds himself longing for a beautiful younger woman (Bo Derek) that he sees while driving. Problem is he meets her on her wedding day and yet...

TOMMY'S TOP 5 HORRIFIC SUMMER BEACH MOVIES! - #2 IS THE HORROR KNOWN AS 1976'S "LIFEGUARD"

Ah yes, good ole Lifeguard - I was 13 when this came out and cut school on a Wed in Flushing Meadows NY cause that's when movies came out back in those days, on Wed. A decent drama and generally considered a chick flick, it deserves a little better than that and to me plays like a really good TV movie. Kathleen Quinlan was 21 when they shot this, playing a 17 yr old and it's one of her most admired performances. She plays the lovesick high schooler with perfect honesty and openness and carries a lot of this film although casting is spot-on through out. Regardless of what you think of Sam Elliot, it's hard to take your eyes off him, that charismatic charm, he owns the picture. Pinewoods Rating System - Three Pinewoods....The Horror!!

Every 70s Movie: Lifeguard (1976)

Based on its title alone, to say nothing of the film's wretched poster, Lifeguard should be a sleazy sex comedy. But instead, it's a somewhat well-observed character piece about an iconoclastic man wrestling with other people's perceptions of his prolonged-adolescent lifestyle. Sam Elliot, his signature sweet 'stache already firmly secured on his upper lip, plays Rick, an L.A.

Lifeguard (1976)

A year-round California lifeguard, Rick Carlson (pre-gray Sam Elliott) has resisted the pull of others' expectations longer than most of us do. But in the 1976 quiet character study Lifeguard, set during the summer of his 15-year class reunion, he finally wrestles to answer the perennial questions: What do you want?
