After losing a keyboard player between albums
The Frampt decided to hold down the keys himself
for this one as well as a few other instruments.
The album is dogged by most fans and critics
as being his worst, usually for the lackluster
production sound and Peter's voice which
is noticeably a bit weak here. Not sure if it's
true but supposedly Frampton was in a big
pot smoking phase. Nonetheless, we have some
great songs here, like how about all 8? The Horror!
PETER FRAMPTON has become a highly stylized performer. The songs on his new album sound much the same as the material on two earlier solo LPs, which in turn sounded like his Humble Pie output (the most pleasant tracks they've recorded). The musical homogeneity is overwhelming: It's often hard to tell where one cut on Something's Happening leaves off and another begins. - Rolling Stone May 1974
