GREETINGS & WELCOME, YOU ARE "ON THE AIR LIVE WITH CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT"! - 1979 ROCKIN' B-FLICK

The Captain himself, aw shucks. This here b-flick filmed in '77 but released in '79 qualifies as a rock n roll movie and includes non other than the legendary Jim Ladd as well as some great LA locations. The story is simple- boy starts pirate radio station in his customized van back in the height of the whole customized van thing. It has some of the worst acting you'll ever see, right up there with In Hot Pursuit and Country Blue...The Horror!! Using my Pinewoods Rating System, I wouldn't say the film's a total loser, worth at least one watch, let's call it One & 1/2 Pinewood.

On the Air Live with Captain Midnight (1979)

By Richard Winters My Rating: 2 out of 10 4-Word Review: A renegade radio station. When high school teen Ziggy (Tracy Sebastian) finds himself fired from a radio station he decides to get revenge by setting up his van with equipment that will allow him to broadcast his own pirate radio station from it.

Every 70s Movie: On the Air Live with Captain Midnight (1979)

Married filmmakers Beverly and Ferd Sebastian took a break from cranking out trashy exploitation flicks when they made On the Air Live with Captain Midnight, a lighthearted underdog story about a high-school kid who achieves notoriety by operating a pirate radio station out of his van while driving around Los Angeles and avoiding a dogged pursuer from the FCC.

Jury begins deliberations in Led Zeppelin case

LOS ANGELES - A key chapter of rock 'n' roll history could be rewritten by a jury that began deliberating Wednesday over whether Led Zeppelin ripped off a riff for its epic Stairway to Heaven.

Led Zeppelin's 10 Boldest Rip-Offs

Reasonable people can disagree on whether (and how heavily) Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" filches from Spirit's "Taurus" - that's why there's a court case in progress. But the reason many people aren't extending Led Zeppelin the benefit of the doubt on "Stairway" is because they have an extensive history of swiping songs from other people and giving credit only under duress.

THE HORROR KNOWN AS "CURSE 2 - THE BITE"! - 1989 B-FLICK ABOUT A MAN WHOSE ARM TURNS INTO....

Here's a new one- man gets bit by radioactive snake and his hand turns into a lethal snake head. The originality of this story pretty much leads the way and the rest of the picture's components follow in a mediocre fashion. Special fx are especially questionable. All in all, I dug it and will add to my collection. Using my Pinewoods Rating System, Curse 2 gets Two Skinny Pinewoods...The Horror!!

Film Review: Curse II: The Bite (1989)

SYNOPSIS: Young lovers (Jill Schoelen, J. Eddie Peck) go through an old desert test-site full of nuclear-mutated snakes. REVIEW: The Curse II: The Bite is a movie that must have seemed like a good idea on paper but on screen it is fairly dull. Most of the movie is watching a young couple drive around ...

Curse II: The Bite (1989)

Vacations are a funny thing. Depending on the circumstances they can go from awesome to disaster and back again with little warning. For example, when I was a kid in Chicago, my parents threatened each other with divorce while we stayed in some flea bag motel, but then my sister had to ruin all those...

Barry Lyndon Movie Review & Film Summary (1975) | Roger Ebert

Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon," received indifferently in 1975, has grown in stature in the years since and is now widely regarded as one of the master's best. It is certainly in every frame a Kubrick film: technically awesome, emotionally distant, remorseless in its doubt of human goodness.

Every 70s Movie: Barry Lyndon (1975)

Slow, somber, and subtle, Stanley Kubrick's three-hour historical drama Barry Lyndon, adapted from an 1844 novel by William Makepeace Thackeray, isn't just one of the most unusual films of the 1970s-it is, in many ways, one of the most unusual films ever released by a major Hollywood studio.

How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love 'Barry Lyndon'

How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love 'Barry Lyndon' hile watching Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon," I realized a story about a visitor to an art exhibit who, having studied each canvas with increasing perplexity, came up to the artist who painted the pictures and said, "I like your work--but I'm not sure exactly what it is you're trying to say."
