Horrific Thursday To Ya, Hopefully It Won't Be A "BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK"! - 1955 Thriller with SPENCER TRACY has one foot in the Noir realm, one foot in the Western realm, one hand in the Mystery realm and the other hand....THE HORROR!!

This one's strange and unique making it perfect for the
House, I had watched this once before on streaming and
enjoyed it, making a mental note to get it into the
collection one day. It's shot nicely and we have
major talent in acting but in my opinion the script
dialog and direction could have been better, the
tension doesn't come across very well, sometimes
it looks like a bunch or great actors standing around.
Using my Palm Springs Rating System, I report
with happiness glad to have in my collection
with Two And 3/4 Palm Trees.

The Horror!!

Revisiting PUBLIC IMAGE LTD's "Happy?" - 1987 Slightly Pop & Electronic influenced album broke out big time in '87 with the single "The Body," heavily rotated on KROQ, an album of just 8 songs, but oh boy what.....THE HORROR!!

comin' up on 30 years old, most PIL fans least favorite
is of course my favorite. oh I must have owned 5 copies
of this over time, like the reviewer below says it's hard
to describe it, tell you this much, it's produced like a
gem, still to see an album match the bass/drum sound
of this one, just hit's you in the gut, ya dig?
The Outright Horror!!

From the BLACK CROWES Archives! - yeah, Horrific Hump Day to ya, wheeling out "FILLMORE 2009 - NIGHT FOUR" which is night 4 out of a tour closing 5-night stand at The Fillmore in which close to 90 songs were performed without one repeat....THE HORROR!!

An amazing run of shows, there were friends of mine
texting me saying people were openly weeping that's
how excellent the band's form was, set list, 7daylink A+
(note - file says night 3 by mistake)
The Horror!!

and over here nothing unusual, just a "RIOT ON CELL BLOCK 11"! - 1954 B-Movie pits the Warden & Guards against the Inmates with a full-blown hostage crisis and Yes, it was Actually Filmed Behind Actual Prison Walls....THE HORROR!!

As previously mentioned I'm adding a bunch of new
additions to my flick collection, this one was suggested
by the Amazon Robot-o-tron based on my browsing
history, yikes. But I like a good prison movie any
day of the week ya dig and this is a good one.
As the review below mentions, there's a lot more
to this flick than you would think based on surface
level and I need to watch it another time or two
but for now using my Palm Springs Rating System
I give this oldie Two And 3/4 Palm Trees
ORIGINAL TRAILER - widely available. You Tube full movie.
The Horror!!

just over here, we need to transfer you to the "TERROR TRAIN"! - 1980 B-Slasher with Jamie Lee Curtis about a big party that takes place on a train, until one by one...but the real horror here is....yep, the film itself....THE HORROR!!

Another new addition to the collection, I had just
a bit higher hopes for this one but it's hard to keep
suspending belief when a magic show is taking
place in a train car that has to qualify for cinema's
absolute worst train sets....using my Palm Springs
Rating System, I give this turkey One & A Half
Palm Trees on a dusty road....The Horror!
Shit Movie Fest: Terror Train (A Shitmas post from Joey Gallimore of Nerd City)
ORIGINAL TRAILER - widely available.
The Horror!!

Revisiting A Little Thing Called "IN THE NAME OF MY FATHER" - a Jason Bonham Band 1997 release of "THE ZEP SET" recorded live at Electric Ladyland with a singer by the name of Charles West....THE HORROR!!

our latest "re-visitation" concerns this nice '97 cd
which washed up on my shore via a $1 cd bin in
Santa Barbara. Admittedly, I don't listen to it that
often but it's really good and a nice tribute
from son to father, what's not to like,

The Horror!!

"GROUND CONTROL" To Major Tommy! - 1998 Disaster Thriller with KEIFER SUTHERLAND & BRUCE MCGILL was only 2nd movie to have a story centered around air traffic controllers and also stars HENRY WINKLER, say what? Henry Winkler as in The.....THE HORROR!!

another one just added to my collection and suggested by
the Amazon Robot-O-Tron for only 98 cents. Had to
take a shot on it since I'm a sucker for any plane,
train or boat related film. As you know, this ain't
no editorial type blog so I'll get straight to the
point- just so-so, not bad, using my Palm Springs
Rating System I give this one Two And A Half
Palm Trees on a windy dusty desert road.
FULL MOVIE ON YOU TUBE
The Horror!!

got a Double Shot of gosh dang COACHELLA MUSIC FEST comin' your way, starting with PRINCE 2008 as he brought his circus to town and pulled out all the stops including Sheila E, Morris Day & Time and even a Santana medley....THE HORROR!!

including a light blue Mustang, set list, 7daylink A- aud

question being is an A-- the same as a B++?....The Horror!!
The Horror!!

Great Scott, it's those boys from Scott! - AVERAGE WHITE BAND with a classic Dan Lampinski capture in RHODE ISLAND 1975, some great stuff from those Scottish boys of funk and soul.....THE HORROR!!

Great show from a band at the top of their success,

Great stuff over at Twenty-Four Frames!
The Horror!!

Horrific Evening One & All and All & One - stand back and give a man a little bloggin' room here will ya? BLACK CROWES 1995 Is How We Roll with a Historic show where Chris & Rich came to blows before the set....THE HORROR!! (Link)

Recommended blog Arizona Jones has this classic
and now historic show, come on guys you shouldn't
fight over what songs go in the set like that! :-)
Wally's back.....The Horror!!

FREE AT LAST! - well i just hope that your heart is in good shape for this next one, it's the Horror of a BAD COMPANY & FREE Tribute Band called "Free At Last" they're from the UK and are considered the....THE HORROR!!

NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALL-STARS Want You To Know That "World Boogie" Is Coming! - Well, it came, it went, and now already two years old, has anybody even heard of this album?.....THE HORROR!!

This album is a 17-song blues cover masterpiece,
plain and simple. Fans of blues as well as NMA
and Black Crowes, etc will dig this one,
also has a slew of guests on it including
Robert Plant....The Horror!!
Samples - "Snake Drive" and "Goat Meat"

Luther! A sad loss for the Crowes.
The Horror!!

and now folks around this next turn, it's "THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE"! - 2001 Coen Brothers Noir flick with BILLY BOB THORNTON as "The Barber" in this black-n-white mystery filled with character and even Flying Saucers....THE HORROR!!

Nice to have this one back in the collection again,
it's probably the most over-looked entry in the
Coen Brothers canon. Billy Bob kicks way back
in his role here letting the nuances of his character
shine through a hard exterior. Also one of those
perfect times black n white was called for,
using my Palm Springs Rating System
I give this long time favorite Four Strong
& Tall Palm Trees, highly recommend!
ORIGINAL TRAILER - widely available.
Tony Shalhoub in one of his best roles ever
as the flashy and fancy lawyer....The Horror!!

HORRIFIC FOOLS DAY! - let's put this PRINCE thing to rest for a bit eh? So we'll end with a HORRIFIC PRINCE SONG called "FAMILY NAME" off an album called The Rainbow Children....THE HORROR!!

This highly underrated concept album based on the
ideals of Jehovah's Witnesses as well as many
other types of spiritual doctrines, is an overlooked
gem in the Prince catalog. A brilliant album that
starts with a 10 minute track and then goes many
places including jazz and funk until ending with
three 8 minute tracks in a row.
