THE HORROR THAT IS "JUST BEFORE DAWN"! - 1981 INDIE WOODS SLASHER AT CULT HORROR STATUS

Ah yes, the good ole You Tube robot does it again
as I got this as a reco a few nights ago. Lots of good
stuff here especially in light of the fact that the
woodsy thriller category is saturated. Points pretty
much straight across the board with photography
and casting worthy of additional mention, Chris
Lemmon and Mike Kellen are excellent, two actors
unfortunately not with us anymore. Using my
Palm Springs Rating System and grading this as
a B-movie, the award is Two and 3/4 Palm Trees,
the highest possible mark....The Horror!!
The one and only Mike Kellin who had a short-lived
but very versatile career. His performance as the dad
in Midnight Express was outstanding. Unfortunately
he smoked a lot of cigars and died young not too
long after he did Sleepaway Camp....The Horror!!

CINEMATIC SHOCKS: Just Before Dawn (1981)

'Just Before Dawn' did not make so much as a whimper during its theatrical release but since then has quite rightfully built a sturdy cult following on home video. Over the last 32 years at the time of writing, the film has been lauded among horror aficionados for being one of the very best backwoods set entries into the slasher sub-genre influenced by John Boorman's masterful 1972 survival thriller 'Deliverance'.
